V+ an update, noisy and massive…

Well got the V+ box, first impressions are it is massive, looks like a Russian VCR from the 80s. The most annoying thing is the noise it makes, as it has a hard drive it makes a constant droning noise, which is probably made worse due to its location (in a wooden cabinet). Apparently this is normal. So I have spent an hour today creating a vibration proof mat for it to sit on consisting of cork mats and numerous layers of bubble wrap. The sound is a lot better now and there is less resonating.

The HD is much better than I thought it would be, I compared normal BBC when it was playing the same programme and there are marked differences. These are mainly when the people are not in close up, as there is much less blurring around the people on screen. Overall it is much much sharper, shame all TV is not like this. Lets hope the BBC do the 6 nations rugby in HD, next year. Overall, now I have sorted the noise issue, I am pretty happy )
